Spreading our vision at Riga's Future of Food Hackathon

The hackathon Future of Food was held on 18th and 19th February in Riga, Latvia, bringing together researchers, food professionals, entrepreneurs, and experts to discuss current challenges in the food industry and to pitch new innovative ideas to tackle the changing social habits. Representatives from more than 10 countries attended the event, which included Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Finland, Netherlands, Croatia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia.
Cathleen Law, the Co-founder of the company, was very fortunately selected to share on stage the vision of Powdies with over 200 participants and organisation representatives. We were deeply thankful for all the positive feedback and support received from the crowd.
One of the biggest highlights of the event was listening to the talks delivered by the keynote speakers. They all have a wealth of experience working in the food industry and gave us many new insights into the challenges faced by the current food ecosystem. Many speakers, for example Sauli Böhm from ResQ, Chantal Engelen from Kromkommer and Juhani Mykkänen from Wolt, also shared with us their entrepreneurial journey of growing from an idea on paper to a successful global business. As a young startup company, it is always motivating and inspiring to learn from successful people who had been through a similar startup journey as you.
The event was organised and supported by The Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia, EIT Food Hub Latvia, Riga Technical University Design Factory and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlandsin, Helve and Rimi Latvia.
